Netball tournament at Bruce Pullman - year 6

Proud of our kids today they did a great job!  We are only three weeks into our netball season and every single lady played great.

We came 2nd in our section to Cosgrove who won all their games.  It was a good learning experience for our kids.
Cosgrove 11-7 to them
Papakura Central 7-2 to us
Clevedon 14-1 to us
Randwick Park 9-1 to us

Big thanks to all the parents that came to support and also our rugby boys who came to cheer us on for our last game, they were noisy as but it was awesome!

Who is your champion?

In class we have been learning about champions.  Here are a few pieces of writing from the class.

Samoan language week

Here is some of the art that students made during Samoan language week.

Students used repeated patterns.

They also used different line work.

Fractions in Whakapono21

This term we have been working on fractions.  This group were able to show their working out using pictures at first and then they moved to using addition to solve the problem.

This group used a different strategy.  Using proportional thinking they used halves.

We have come a long way in fractions but we still have more to learn.  Watch this space as we learn about mixed fractions and improper fractions next.

Taniara is off to represent Rowandale School in the FAGASA national speech competition!

Hip, hip, hooray to Taniara who participated in the FAGASA Samoan speech competition in the year 6 category.  She worked very hard with Mrs Uelese and her hard work paid off by coming first.  What a great achievement at such a young age, Taniara is the epitome of a young Samoan girl who is growing in confidence and is always proud to put her culture and heritage at the forefront of her life.  Taniara will now represent Rowandale School in the FAGASA national competition.
Her class and the whole school are so proud of her and wish her well when she goes to compete against others around New Zealand.
